Equestrian Marketing - Why & How!

The Equestrian industry in Ireland is fast growing and with Olympic Qualification in all equestrian disciplines there is no better time to be an Equestrian Business in Ireland! However, most people in the Equestrian industry are not sitting at a desk all day on social media, they are out in the elements producing horses or coaching or travelling the country! Marketing your Equestrian business can seem so daunting, it can seem like a minefield when trying to get your name out there and keeping it there, this is why you need to stand out from the rest!

Finding your website should not be harder than finding a distance?

What happens when you search for your equestrian business online? Do you come up on the first page, second page? Does your name appear at all? Many equestrian professionals I meet, think a digital presence is something that doesn’t apply to them. But if you are a coach, vet, equestrian centre, or retail shop, you always need more customers. Being searchable so that your business appears on the first page, isn’t too difficult.

Here are a few tips to help you STAND OUT!

Have a website – I know this sounds super simple, but I’m amazed at how many equestrian professionals don't have a website. You don’t need anything super fancy. One or two pages is enough to start. Do people know you are an accredited HSI coach or that you provide livery?

Get on social media- Not everyone needs every type of social media account, but you do need at least one. Pick the platform that feels like the best fit for your personality and business and start building your community. You can have a business account on Facebook.

Claim your business listings – Even if you haven’t set up a digital presence, you likely still have one. Get control of your Google business listings at a minimum.

Share what you know – Search Engines love relevant content. If you are an equestrian professional, write about your craft. Not sure where to start? Think of those questions that your clients ask you again and again. i.e. – Why do you use trotting poles? What does it take to be ready for a show? What’s better regular worming or testing? What's the best bit to use? That’s what I love about horse, there is always something we can find to talk about.

Branding - If you show that you produce high quality work or products, clients will be more likely to value what you offer and pay higher prices for it. Good branding elevates a business and builds recognition and loyalty. Customers are attracted to brands that share similar values with them.
